Eye Exercises  ⁄  Dynamic Vision Trainer 2

New year and new eye exercises with more dynamic, more fixation! This is an exercise for eye fixation and saccadic eye movement, up-ward and down-ward. Place the monitor at arm’s length, it’s about 0.5 meter. In the other case you can place the monitor at 1 meter distance. Appropriate under-corrected eye glasses are useful in both cases.


Press the Ctrl key and rotate the mouse scroll to set the distance between the multicolored circles equal to your pupillary distance. All you need to do is create a fusion in divergence, then follow the multi colored circle in the middle column for 3 minutes. Forgot the warm-up before and relaxation massage after?

Next repeat the exercise with fusion in convergence for the same time. Exercise time is about 10 – 15 minutes. Enjoy!

Just look at multicolored cross, then follow red circles for divergence. You should fuse the multicolored circles in eight-pointed stars. Next watch again the multicolored cross and follow red circles for convergence and fusion. Use Ctrl + scroll wheel on your mouse to set up the distance between the centers of eight-pointed stars. Place the monitor at arm’s length, it’s about 0.5 meter.

The time of a set is about 3 minutes, total time of eye exercises is about 30 minutes per day. Remember warm-up before and relaxation massages after the eye exercise. Use glasses that are three-diopters lower than your current values of myopia at the distance of 0.5 meter:

Eye Exercises  ⁄  Weird Thing With My Vision


I would like to discuss something I noticed lately with you. I am not sharing it on you web page since I do not think there is a related article.

I guess you are aware of this trick: that even the ones having myopia can see clearly through a small hole. You can pierce a small hole on a piece of paper (diameter ~1 mm should do) or even with the top of your three first fingers (thumb + index + middle fingers) creating a small opening. Looking through this tiny hole, due to physics properties (refraction of light by lenses) the object you are looking to appears very clearly even though your glasses were taken off.That is why glasses with holes are sold (http://www.ny3d.org/pinhole_glasses.jpg), claiming those would help to relax your eyes, I don’t really know if that’s true and that is not my point 🙂

So:sometimes after doing the warm-up and training exercise to my muscles, I fix an object and stress these muscles a bit to increase my myopia. I do so during a short delay, in a dynamic way. It helps me to be more receptive to my extra-ocular muscles feelings and then having a better control over them. Then I experienced something weird: looking, through this tiny hole i made, and looking to your first visual target, I realized that acting on my muscles to increase my myopia would make the visual target still sharp, but smaller. As I relax them, the target gets to its original size. This effect is hard to describe, I think you will have to experience it by yourself. Its rendering is… just strange.

Anyway, when I looked to the target in a normal way (without the tiny hole) I have to tense my muscles a bit to get the same feeling, which leads to a blurrier vision.

Of course, a question naturally arises: Could I obtain this effect – but in the opposite way? Will the target appear bigger?? I tried and I am really able to make the target bigger! And still sharp as I am still checking by looking through this hole. But I have to admit making the target bigger is tricky. I need to focus on not tensing my muscles and even more, relaxing them. Moreover the sensation I get is something I have never experienced before. It is different from the feeling I get when I relax, different from when my muscles are tense, it is just… neutral. Again I cannot find my words.

I made few deductions, but please I would like you opinion on them. >I think that looking through this hole and playing with my muscles illustrate very well the fact that  extra-ocular muscles can make the shape of your eyes change. Or am I wrong and did I forget another parameter?

>If tensing these muscles makes the target appear smaller, aiming at making it bigger could help to have the muscles relaxed. Wrong?

>The question that has been bugging me for a while and is still bugging me in that case: how can I say if  I am, or not, acting on my ciliary muscles too, so there is a combination of extra-ocular and ciliary muscles?

Alex, thank you for the very interesting observation. I consider this email important enough to post it on the blog. I hope, some visitors will describe the similar experience of voluntary setup of accommodation and a pinhole effect. Any ideas?
